HERE are your
swing video
Notes: Christy, from the Face-on video, the Good news is that you have a good fluid swing of the club around your shoulders and back through the ball. From the down-the-line video, we see that you have a very nice posture with a nice spine angle setup to the ball. You also finish on a good note with the knees "kissed" and a full turm through at finish. Christy, from the face-on video, the Bad news is that you tend to stay in the center of your stance during the backswing, thus reducing your distance and club head speed. Ypu tend to move the shoulders and knee back at the same time, rather than the shoulders, then the hip and then the knee. With a better weight shift back you will get your center back just inside the right foot so you can get more distanece out of the turn forward. It also looks like you are tensing and raising the hands a bit when you start the swing. From the down-the-line video, we see that the spine angle is good but tends to be a bit too upright when you address the ball with this wood. Then as you swing to impact you change the angle of the lower spine to be more upright as you curve the upper spine towards the ball at impact. Try starting a bit farther from the ball at address so that both the lower and upper spine stays very close to the same angle through impact. Also, you may notice that the club shaft angle points through your belt buckle at address, and yet when you swing down th thw ball the club shaft angle points through your shoulders. This lets you leak some power at impact. You need to work on a quickere timimg with the hip turn, followed by the shoulder and arm swing through the ball. This will give you a more powerful move and better swing plane angle at impact. We need to get you setting up better for a better "power wave" swing from the ground up rather than all at once. If we can get this things working, you will have a very nice and consistent swing. Let's see what we can do to get that swing working well in 2010... Added Focus Points... That's the swing. When you practice make sure you think about a target AND a course condition you'll face for the shot you're working on. Then consider a situation in your head to swing in. Have you just birdied the last hole and now it's the next tee shot? Have you just had a blow up hole and now it's time to get on track? Does this shot get you right ther to break through that barrier? Whatever the situation, please put yourself in it mentally and physically with a good preshot routine and go through the motions. Now when you play you'll be able to manage the swing mechanics, the game . shot management and the mental / emotional controls all at once when you need it. Cheers... GREAT NEWS! NOW WHAT? Take
the Next Step…First, keep your Pocket Playing Lesson Practice Plan Handy and Safe! After all that work, you don't want to loose it! And don't be afraid to add as many notes as you like on the Discovery pages. Do you remember some points or questions about you Swing, Game, or on the Mental side??? Write them down. This may be a work in progress. I have known students to transfer all these pages and notes into a separate color coded pocket binder. Next, Analyze you Discoveries, Playing Statistics and Personal Practice Plan. What jumps out at you as you biggest Weakness? Next biggest Weakness? Then Prioritize these to focus on getting the biggest bang for your buck. The greatest gains in you golf game will come from improvement of the biggest weakness, Right? Now don't forget about your Strengths and practice them regularly to maintain them! Now, set up your Goals and make a plan of the amount of commitment you have to achieve the goals. Be Realistic about what level of time and effort you can practically fit into your typical life's schedule. Then find the time by setting aside the time in your schedule, just as you would for a golf lesson. Set your golf practice times, either with the coach or on your own. And, Just DO IT! Have fun with this. Use one club to go to different targets, with different shot, full or high or low wind shots or chips. try them all. Then be sure to focus on the weaknesses by practicing the frills or awareness swings to discover where it's going wrong. Once you have discovered where to focus or know what to focus on, PLEASE ONLY do 6 to 8 ball sets for that particular drill or feel of the swing. More is just a waste of time. Finally, save some balls in your basket to do some Deliberate Practice. Choose a target. Go through your full pre-shot routine for every swing. Then play a hole, a par 3, par 4, and a par 5, with the clubs you would normally hit, IN THAT ORDER. Count the strokes as if you were playing on the course. If you miss your target, add a stroke for the recovery shot to get back into play. DON'T GET FRUSTRATED HERE. Just do this to have fun playing in the 10 minutes it takes to do your Deliberate Practice. Remember - Every Shot Has A Purpose! +++++
